Room and bathroom
struggled to find the entrance (due to scaffolding and not sign posted). Was not advised at check -in that a £100 would be taken from my credit card for incidentals, this is absurd and have never experienced this in any hotel I've stayed in ( worldwide!)- and refunded after 5 days or so. I did not know this until check out (having just the £1 local charge to pay) - I was really annoyed by this as i could have paid the £1 in cash or debit card (as you are a cashless Hotel)- but didnt' have the choice. I must say, I would not stay here again because of this policy and i have advised all of my work colleagues of the same issue. Everybody was shocked, just like me!!

The decor adds a nice ambiance and the rooms are laid out in a nice manner. The huge ceiling height adds to the Gothic manner of the hotel.
The bathroom was spacious and the monsoon shower large enough for 4 people! The shower head was properly large enough to drench you fully while standing under it.
The terrace bar affords great views over the city.
Had breakfast on two of the days. The full English was very nice. Good bacon and sausages with lots of flavour. A different twist on a hash brown which was very enjoyable.
The crushed avocado was not as good. The muffin was not a muffin, it was a bread roll and the avocado was only dressed at the edge of the roll with the two poached eggs covering the middle of the toasted roll. It tasted ok but was unimpressed. Also a roll has a curved top makes it much more wobbly when on you plate.
However passed comment to the Maître d’ he apologised offered me a replacement and explained he would investigate why. He also came back to me the next day with an update that they were looking into why the wrong items were being used in the kitchen. Was very impressed with the service from the staff in the restaurant.
The bar staff and reception staff were also very friendly and polite. Bar staff also were very attentive when on the terrace as to if we wanted more drinks. At the Club Brass you drink in the continental manner where you get your drinks then settle the bill at the end.

Well what can I say at first I was excited for the so called, 5 star experience but things started to unravel at check-in with a pre authorized £100 payment for any breakages. This payment I was told would be held and put back into my account, which has now cleared so this amounts to stealing. The room was nice but my wife and myself were kept awake all night by the guests above constantly pacing around their room, this along with several creaking floorboards was not a mix for a 5 star slumber. Then came the breakfast at £24.95 each. We sat down and were ignored for 20 minutes as two couples who came in after us were served, we had then to go and ask a member of staff to take our order. Unfortunately, when the breakfast came it was stone cold at this point the ordeal of the stay was at breaking so we decided to leave half of the breakfast and checkout.

Wonderful
We stayed in the Lady Didsbury Suite, the room was excellent, we loved every part of it. The bed was extremely comfy and the shower was incredible. We ordered room service and the staff were incredible friendly and helpful.
The only issue we had with the room was the projector for the Wonder Wall. After 5-10 minutes of us being in the room, the projector started to display an error message, we then couldn’t turn the projector off, with it being slightly noisy and located above the bed it was a bit annoying.
